This exquisite, beautiful and enchanting Tudor mansion built in 1525 by a wealthy cloth merchant boasts almost fifty acres of sweeping lawns and meadow, an enchanting lake and an idyllic chapel. The Hall is a stunning example of the great architecture of medieval England and flows with history. Queen Elizabeth herself was charmed by her stay at Hengrave. Many rooms can be used to suit your requirements…The Great Banqueting Hall offers space for civil ceremonies, and evening wedding and party receptions. The Long Gallery is perfect for wedding breakfasts, seating a maximum of 130 people. Other rooms include the Dining Room, an ideal space for intimate dinners, business meetings, conferences. This room is licensed for civil weddings. The Retiring Room offers the perfect opportunity for guests to relax and reflect on the days excitement, whilst the Play Room is fully equipped with a selection of games and toys to ensure that younger guests are entertained.

Cocktail DJ Service
This will create the perfect atmosphere while photographs are being taken, drinks being poured and canapés being served. The amazing and period garden area is the perfect setting for your drinks reception. Your own personal DJ will to play music to suit your requirements. He will DJ in such a way that it will be perfectly mixed and seamless, playing through a discreet sound system. Popular selections and music that we find work well are…
Modern Jazz, Smooth Grooves, Funk, Soul, Classic Remixes, Chill Out, Funky House (Head kandi), Smooth D&B and even Classical. This service is a perfect alternative to a string quartet or Jazz band.
Complete Evening Event DJ & Disco Service
The Great Banqueting Hall has been completely restored with carved figures, regal arches and a large open fireplace, making this perfect for your wedding evening party or evening event. We are able to position our sound and lighting equipment in front of the magnificent large period stain glass window that looks out on the courtyard. You will see from the pictures that our DJ can work from here with our taking up room for guest and dancing. Our DJ’s are experienced and skilled to making sure that everybody will enjoy the complete mix of music played. He will play the correct styles of music to suit the atmosphere and time of night throughout the evening reception. You and your guests can be sure to party and celebrate the night away. An informal chat over the phone or if preferred a meeting with us at our office in Colchester with you both before your wedding day to discuss your requirements. Installation/set up of all sound and lighting equipment two hours prior to any proceedings. DJ entertainment from one of our experienced and skilled DJ’s. Sound system & lighting to suit The Great Banqueting Hall. Lighting comprises of a LED starcloth DJ booth (placed into the alcove). Three LED bars to enhance the stain glass window behind the DJ.
A selection of moving disco colour effects placed up high on the mistrals gallery to project down on to the dance floor, plus a colour wash effect. Up-lighting of the period features in The Great Banqueting Hall enhancing that ‘WOW’ factor.
Six LED up-lighters are positioned along the walls, plus one LED bar in the fireplace to create a fantastic atmosphere and produce extra coloured lighting.

Up-lighting of the Long Gallery
The typically English architecture and period features of the Long Gallery also lend themselves for up-lighting during your wedding breakfast and through in to the evening, making this room a great chill out feature.By using eight of our compact and tidy LED up-lighters, we can position these along the walls and fireplaces and set the colour to suit.
